Teligence and Synovate are two midsize corporations that adopted
subscription service based emergency notification for Business Continuity.
Notification exercises prior to adopting an emergency notification system
clearly underscored the difficulties in activating teams and the need for an
automated solution. The implications of a facility loss drove the decision
to select Subscription based Emergency notification solution, both because
of the difficulty in informing response teams, and because of the potential
for business disruption.
- Selecting a Subscription Service lessened need to test and maintain
phone lines. For both organizations, a relatively small group of staff
people were responsible for maintaining both the notification database,
and for exercising within the organization.
- External sources for telephone data such as Human Resources databases
were checked and found to be too inaccurate and incomplete for the
purposes of a business continuity notification system. Existing BC phone
lists were imported into the system and after import have been maintained
manually.
- A Subscription Service based solution allowed these companies remedy
an obvious vulnerability at a low cost. In their case, the activation of
the system would be infrequent, primarily in Business Continuity exercises
